Raffaele Marciello continued to increase his already massive lead in the championship, taking his seventh win in twelve races in the final Brands Hatch Indy outing for this year’s European F3 championship.
Alex Lynn started the race from pole but let Marciello ahead by turn one and was running in second before spinning off and stalling his car in the middle of the track. He managed to get going again, but not before being tagged by teammate Eddie Cheever, caught out by the lack of yellow flag as both the Italian and his British teammate ended up retiring due to the collision.
The race was much more eventful as two previous outings with overtakes, incidents and lots of penalties, with nearly half the drivers serving drive throughs due to yellow flag infringements. Prema’s Lucas Auer drove a mighty strong race to finish second, while Carlin’s Harry Tincknell did well to hold on to third under immense pressure.
Felix Rosenqvist finished in fourth to keep his second in the series, while Sven Muller capped off a very strong weekend by finishing fifth. Tom Blomqvist was sixth ahead of Lucas Wolf, who recorded his best finish of the year so far. Another Carlin man, Nicholas Latifi, finished eighth ahead of Roy Nissany, who scored his first points of the year, and Antonio Giovinazzi.
After four rounds, Marciello leads Rosenqvist by more than a hundred points, while the likes of Lynn, Auer and Tincknell are all relatively close to the Mucke man.
