Alex Baron will drive for R-ace GP in his debut year in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 in 2013 according to the French federation, the FFSA.
Baron started out in cars in 2012, embarking on a full campaign in F4 France in 2012. He was among some of the more dominant drivers in their categories that year, winning nine races out of 14 on his way to a landslide victory.
The 18-year-old, who is part of the FFSA’s ‘Equipe de France’ national team scheme, said he is aiming for the top three in his rookie year in Eurocup, hoping to add a few victories along the way.
R-ace GP, which is affiliated to the ART operation run by Baron’s manager Nicolas Todt, finished fifth in last year’s teams’ standings for the Eurocup. R-ace GP employed Dutch young star Nyck de Vries in 2012 alongside with F4 France graduates Pierre Gasly and Andrea Pizzitola. Gasly and de Vries both scored two podiums, with the Dutchman finishing fifth in the standings in his rookie year.
