Martins leads Dunne on final morning of Abu Dhabi F2 test

Victor Martins pipped Formula 2 debutant Alex Dunne to top the morning session on the final day of post-season testing in Abu Dhabi.

DAMS duo Kush Maini and Jak Crawford were the first drivers to go underneath the 1m40s mark seven minutes into the session, with Rafael Villagomez, Pepe Marti and then Martins all taking top spot within the next minute.

Marti would go quicker still a couple of laps later, only for Martins to immediately respond, and the ART Grand Prix driver became the first man into the 1m36s when he lowered his time further after two more laps.

Villagomez would return to the top of the times at the half-hour mark, but his effort was quickly bettered by Christian Mansell and then Dino Beganovic, who lowered the pace into the 1m35s.

It was about 10 minutes later than Martins set what would be the best time of the session, a 1m35.773s, just before its first and only red flag.

Dunne would get within 0.038s of Martins’ time for Rodin to take second, while Beganovic’s time would remain good enough for third for Hitech.

Mansell found more time to finish up fourth in front of Oliver Goethe and Ritomo Miyata, with the top 10 being completed by Roman Stanek, Richard Verschoor and the DAMS pair Crawford and Maini.
