Mucke’s rookie star Maximilian Gunther overcame a challenge from teammate and championship leader Alessio Picariello to come out on top in qualifying for the ADAC Formel Masters round at Nurburgring.

Picariello took an early lead in the session with a very quick benchmark lap but found himself unable to improve, as the rest of the field got ever closer to taking away pole. Eventually, Gunther was the man to do it, and, as the Belgian series leader finally bettered his lap, he was unable to match his teammate, giving Gunther his first pole in the series.

Nicolas Beer took third with Red Bull junior Beitske Visser taking fourth place. Jason Kremer will line up in fifth, with practice pacesetter Ralph Boschung starting on the same row. Mikkel Jensen will start from seventh, ahead of third-best Mucke driver on the grid – Hendrik Grapp. Marvin Dienst placed ninth, with Indy Dontje rounding out the top ten.
