Brazilian youngsters Victor Franzoni and Guilherme Silva will join Nyck de Vries at Koiranen Motorsport in this year’s Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0.
17-year-old Franzoni raced for the Finnish squad in the Alps series last year, finishing up 11th overall with the clear highlight being a double pole position at the Red Bull Ring. He is managed by Novac Sports, run by Guto Negrao, father of Formula Renault 3.5 racer Andre.
McLaren protege de Vries was already known to be switching to the Koiranen team, with the Dutch star likely to start the campaign as the pre-season favourite.
Franzoni’s announcement revealed that the trio will be completed by his compatriot Silva, who transfers from the Interwetten team. Silva enjoyed a promising first full season in European racing, finishing eighth in the Alps and 17th in the Eurocup, claiming a podium finish in each. In 2011 he won the Formula Futuro series in Brazil (where Franzoni was fifth) as well as taking five wins in South American F3 and making a one-off appearance in British F3.
Each team in the Eurocup this year must run three drivers only, with Koiranen reported as fielding six cars in the Alps category.
