Alexandre Bardinon will race for Pinnacle Motorsport in the 2021 Asian Formula 3 season, which begins next month.
The 18-year-old has been a Van Amersfoort Racing driver for the last two years in Formula Regional European Championship and Euroformula, with a best finish of ninth in the former and eighth in the latter.
During the off-season he has been testing with VAR again, as well as trying out R-ace GP’s FREC car too in Spain.
“I’m really happy to take part in the 2021 F3 Asian Championship with a professional team as Pinnacle Motorsport,” said Bardinon.
“It’s a great opportunity to discover international Formula 1 tracks such as Dubai and Yas Marina. Really looking forward to start the championship.”
The Ireland-registered Pinnacle team ran Jack Doohan and Pietro Fittipaldi, who ended up in F1 this year with Haas, during the 2019-20 Asian F3 season and won five races. It also won three with Doohan’s fellow Red Bull junior Liam Lawson in 2018.
Bardinon is the third driver to be announced for the 2021 season, which is holding all of its rounds in the United Arab Emirates, and his Pinnacle team-mates are expected to be announced at a later date.
The first two drivers confirmed to be competing were Hitech GP’s Reece Ushijima and BlackArts Racing’s Zdenek Chovanec. Formula Scout understands a grid of at least 16 cars will be taking part, and there will be several new teams joining the field for the first time too such as Malaysia’s Evans GP and local karting team Motorscape.
