European champ Daniel Juncadella is joined by Italian stars Riccardo Agostini and Eddie Cheever Jr behind the wheel of a Ferrari F60 at Vallelunga…
Formula 3 stars Daniel Juncadella, Riccardo Agostini and Eddie Cheever Jr all undertook prize drives in a Ferrari F1 car at Vallelunga in Italy today.
Juncadella was first on track in the F60 used in the 2009 F1 season, as he completed the test he received as a prize for winning the revived FIA European F3 Championship in addition to the Euro Series crown.
Cheever Jr then took over, following in the footsteps of his father who also tested for Ferrari, before handing the controls to Agostini, the man he battled for glory in Italian F3 in 2012. Agostini won the rookie and Italian classifications in the series this year, while the result of the European Series remains subject to appeals.
“At the beginning I was a bit nervous, this is a once in a lifetime experience,” said Cheever. “I hope this can happen more than once actually, but doing it once is already quite a lot for a driver. The initial excitement being gone I started to understand better the car and I managed to express my driving in the best way.”
Agostini added: “It has certainly been a positive experience and I am quite happy about how things went. The approach to the Ferrari has been very good and I found myself at ease with engineers and with their work method.”
Luca Badisserri, head of the Ferrari Driver Academy commented: ?This was a really interesting day that confirms the worth of this initiative. I hope this programme will continue for many years, helping with the development of young drivers. It?s the first time we have given this prize also to the winner of the FIA European Formula 3 series, in the hope that this championship will become a reference point among the junior formulae leading to F1.?
