Douglas Motorsport has announced it will join GB4, one of Britain’s Formula 4 championships, next year.

The team plans to enter with three cars, and is expanding downwards from GB3 which it has spent over a decade in the paddock of.

GB3 started off as BRDC British F4 in 2013, turned into BRDC British Formula 3 in 2016 then took on its current name in 2021. Over 11 years, Douglas has won 16 races and its most recent victory was in 2022.

“We’re excited to announce our official entry into the GB4 championship,” said team principal Wayne Douglas.

“We’ve been working hard over the past few months to deliver a strong development programme for our drivers, ensuring they are on the best footing possible to achieve success this coming season. We’ve had experience with the next generation car for 2025, and we’re really impressed with the feedback we’ve had from our drivers.”

Over in British F4, Xcel Motorsport has signed karter Theo Palmer to its line-up for 2025.

Palmer will join the championship from the second round onwards, since he does not turn 15 until May, and steps up from junior karting.

This year he came 14th in the Rotax Max Challenge International Trophy and 25th in the Kartmasters British Grand Prix for Rotax Junior karts, and on X30 Junior karts he came eighth in the grand prix. He recently stepped up to X30 Senior karts, and sits third in the IAME Series United Arab Emirates standings after one round.

The UAE is where Xcel is based and where Palmer has done most of his karting, coming 11th, fifth and 15th in the past three seasons of IAME’s X30 Jr series there. He has raced with an Emirati license in the past.
