Casper Stevenson fastest ahead of Brands Hatch British F4 round

Casper Stevenson was fastest for Argenti Motorsport in British Formula 4 practice at Brands Hatch.

The championship will run its second round of the season around the circuit’s Grand Prix configuration, which is usually run at the end of the year.

Stevenson set the fastest lap of the day during the first of two free practice sessions, jumping to the top of the order in the second half of FP1.

He set a 1m28.293s lap to go 0.120s quicker than Arden Motorsport driver Alex Connor, who finished second in the session.

Eight of the 15 drivers found improvements in the second free practice session, including Carlin’s Zak O’Sullivan, but none could match Stevenson’s time.

O’Sullivan ended the day with a quickest lap of 1m28.333, 0.04s slower than Stevenson.

The first practice session was relatively smooth, but FP2 was stopped three times by red flag periods. All three periods were relatively short, brought out as drivers dropped off track and brought debris back on with them.

On his way to the fastest lap of the session, O’Sullivan was one of these drivers to bring out the red flag when he ran into the gravel, but he was able to get back on track and able to continue.

James Hedley and Alex Connor both found improvements in FP2 and slotted in third and fourth overall, ahead of Christian Mansell and Roberto Faria, who set their personal bests in FP1.

Luke Browning struggled in the first free practice, finishing 13th overall, but he found 1.243s in the second session to put himself seventh overall.

Abbi Pulling, Nico Pino, and Nathaneal Hodgkiss completed the order.
