Van Amersfoort Racing’s Sebastian Estner was fastest once again in the second free practice session for the Euroformula season opener at the Hungaroring.

Once again the best times were on the most part set very early on in the 40-minute session, with Estner putting in back-to-back personal bests to go to the top of the timesheet with a 1m34.009s lap – slower than his session-topping FP1 lap.

Carlin’s Zane Maloney proved to be his closest opponent again, this time almost half a second back, with Rui Andrade putting in a late surprise to move up to third position for the Motopark-linked CryptoTower Racing Team.

He shuffled back ex-Formula 1 junior team-mate Yifei Ye to fourth, with Estner’s older brother and team-mate Andreas completing the top five.

Ido Cohen was sixth for Carlin, ahead of top Motopark driver Niklas Krutten. The German was one of several drivers who had laptimes removed due to track limits violations.

Drivex School had another unusual session, this time with Glenn van Berlo having his effort’s shortened and his car being sent to parc ferme mid-session. His team-mate Shihab Al Habsi did get proper mileage, but was slower than van Berlo in 11th place.
