Robin Frijns has added the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 title to the Formula BMW Europe crown that he won last year…

The Dutchman won the second race of the weekend at Paul Ricard to put himself out of the reach of Carlos Sainz Jr with just the season finale at Barcelona to go. He had been second best to Sainz in the opening couple of rounds but won at the Nurburgring and Hungaroring and then scored an emphatic double victory at Silverstone to get one hand on the title arriving at Paul Ricard.

His feat had been all the more impressive considering his Josef Kaufmann Racing team were new to Formula Renault this year.

Frijns says that a step up to Formula Renault 3.5 is amongst his options for 2012, but GP3 and Formula 3 are also possible avenues for the FIA Institute Academy member.
