Richie Stanaway has wrapped up the 2011 German F3 Cup at the penultimate round of the season at Assen in the Netherlands after a dominant season…
The New Zealander could not be caught after his nearest rival Marco Sorensen was unable to race at Assen due to funding issues. Stanaway finished second in the first race and then won the second race from pole position.
He’s won 11 of the 16 races so far this season, including double victories at Oschersleben, the first Assen round and the Red Bull Ring.
As for next year, his Volkswagen support could lead to a step up to the Formula 3 Euro Series with Signature, should the category survive into 2012 with its low numbers. However, his race-winning debut in GP3 at Spa with ART could see him there, with his Gravity support seemingly giving him links with Group Lotus, who sponsor ART. With some testing under his belt over the winter he would no doubt be amongst the title favourites.
