Petru Florescu claimed a lights-to-flag victory in the first MSA Formula race at Brands Hatch.

Starting from pole, Florescu stayed ahead of?quick-starter?Max Fewtrell, who overtook James Pull for second.

The Romanian was leading by 1.3s at the end of the opening lap and stretched his advantage to almost three seconds towards the end of the race.

However, a safety car stint initiated by Ross Martin going out at Druids saw Florescu’s gap disappear.

The action only resumed for a single lap and, with Florescu nailing the restart, he took the checkered flag first with Fewtrell and Pull completing a Carlin 1-2-3.

Luis Leeds converted his starting position to take fourth on his European debut, followed by Sennan Fielding and Jamie Caroline.

The latter duo overtook Brazilian Rafa Martins, who had to settle for seventh.

Fortec’s Alex Quinn finish eighth ahead of Zane Goddard, the Australian keeping?Devlin DeFrancesco at bay.
