Hong Kong driver Matthew Solomon took Eurasia Motorsport’s first pole position of the Formula Masters China Series season at Inje, while championship leader James Munro took pole position for race three.
The 18-year-old Solomon pipped Munro by just 0.033 seconds in the first session. Munro’s teammate Dan Wells spun on his first flying lap and picked up slight damage. He ended up third fastest, ahead of Meritus driver Andersen Martono.
South African Matthew Swanepoel made it three KCMG cars in the top five in the first session, with Eurasia duo Pu Jun Jin and Yuan Bo qualifying sixth and seventh.
Zen Motorsport managed to get two cars in the top ten in the first session, with Bao Jin Long and Yin Hai Tao going eighth and ninth quickest respectively, while Meco Motorsport’s Akhil Rabindra completed the top ten.
Munro dominated the second session, managing to go four-tenths quicker than Wells to make it an all-KCMG front row for race three. Solomon was narrowly behind Wells in third, with Martono qualifying fourth again.
Yuan Bo?beat Swanepoel to fifth on the grid by three-thousandths of a second. Pu Jun Jin took seventh on the grid, with Zen Motorsport trio of Yin Hai Tao, Bao Jin Long and Ronald Wu completing the top ten.
