Prema Powerteam’s Raffaele Marciello has increased his lead in the standings by taking the win in race one at Vallelunga with a measured drive.

Having converted pole into a decent lead over second-placed Alexander Sims over the opening laps, he proceeded to control the gap to the Briton, keeping him around a second behind until the checkered flag.

Fellow front row starter Alex Lynn ended up settling for third, while Daniil Kvyat took fourth.

Local driver Eddie Cheever recorded his best finish yet in the series with fifth place, while Pipo Derani kept Lucas Auer and Sven Muller at bay for sixth.

Antonio Giovinazzi held on to ninth, stalling Felix Rosenqvist’s progress after the Swede charged his way up into the points from the back of the grid. Carlin man Harry Tincknell picked up the final point.
