Kevin Jorg took a lights-to-flag victory in the second Formula Renault 2.0 NEC race of the weekend at Spielberg.

Although the Josef Kaufmann driver just narrowly kept the lead from teammate Louis Deletraz into the first corner, the following battle between the championship leader and Jehan Daruvala gave Jorg an opportunity to build a confident gap by the end of lap one.

With Daruvala having passed Deletraz, Jorg was allowed to cruise to the finish line, his teammate and rival spending most of the race looking for a way past the Indian, who defended masterfully.

When Deletraz finally overtook the Force India junior into Castrol Edge and successfully kept him behind through turns two and three, there wasn’t enough time left to challenge Jorg and the Swiss driver had to settle for second.

The podium was completed by Alex Gill, who also passed teammate Daruvala, pulling off a brave move to secure his first top-three in the series. The Indian, whose maiden podium came yesterday, had to do with fourth this time around.

AVF’s Charlie Eastwood recorded his team’s best result of the season in fifth, followed by Callan O’Keeffe and Josef Zaruba.

The top ten of the classification was completed by ART’s Max Defourny, MGR’s Colin Noble and Josef Kaufmann’s Dries Vanthoor.
