Formula Regional European Championship team G4 Racing has signed Alvaro Cho to replace Jesse Carrasquedo, who departed its line-up at the end of last month.

The Swiss outfit had not been planning to lose Carrasquedo, who is currently 29th in the standings with a best finish of 19th from the first four rounds of the season. He left G4 to join Campos Racing in Eurocup-3, where he made a cameo in 2023 and on his series return at Paul Ricard last weekend took a podium to immediately spring up to 11th in the standings.

Cho’s first FREC event will be this weekend’s round at Mugello, and it will be his first single-seater outing in Europe.

“I am very happy with the opportunity to race in a prestigious series as FREC with G4 Racing,” said Cho.

“It will be a challenge since I am joining mid-season and the car, tracks, and team are new to me, nonetheless, we will push hard to bring in the best results possible.”

The 17-year-old Brazilian has been racing in his home country’s Formula 4 championship since 2022, coming 12th in his rookie season with two podiums then improving to third last year with a win, seven other podiums and two poles.

He has contested of the three rounds held so far this year, with three poles out of four, two wins and two other podiums as his return. None of the five remaining rounds clash with FREC, meaning he could see out the seasons in both and fight for the Brazilian F4 title.
