Italian team Cram Motorsport has announced Flavio Olivieri as its first signing for the 2023 Spanish Formula 4 season.

Olivieri started testing in F4 cars in 2021, and joined Cram for an extended test programme in the second half of 2022 that then included his single-seater racing debut at the start of this year in the United Arab Emirates’ F4 championship. His best race result there was an 18th place.

Before F4, Olivieri competed in shifter karting and came eighth in the 2022 Italian championship for KZ2 karts. In 2021 he raced OK karts, coming eighth in WSK’s Open Cup and 17th in its Final Cup event.

“I am delighted to have extended the collaboration with Flavio for the upcoming Spanish championship,” said Cram’s team manager Gabriele Rossi.

“Last year, we started a path that is beginning to come to fruition. I am sure that he can continue the growth he showed in the UAE for the Spanish series, aiming for the top 10.”

Another addition to the Spanish F4 grid is Alex Ninovic at Rodin Carlin. The British team is competing in the championship for the first time, and plans to run multiple cars. Australian racer Ninovic is its first signing.

The 16-year-old was national champion in his home country last year on KA3 Senior karts, and the year before that was the KA4 Junior champion. His move to Spanish F4 will mark the start of his single-seater racing career, and he has already tested with Carlin in Europe several times.
