Esteban Masson took a controlling win from pole position in the first French Formula 4 race of the weekend at the Hungaroring.

A strong launch off the line meant he went unchallenged by fellow front-row man Maceo Capietto going into the first corner, and had a 0.897-second advantage by the end of the first lap.

From there he pulled away by up to three quarters of a second per lap to take his fourth win of the year.

Masson finished a comfortable second place ahead of series debutant Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, who normally races in British F4.

Own Tangavelou finished fourth, ahead of a close battle between Daniel Ligier and top Junior classification driver Dario Cabanelas. The next best Junior drivers were Alessandro Guisti and Enzo Geraci in ninth and 10th overall.

As well as Inthraphuvasak, FEED Racing France finalist Elliott Vayron was also making his debut and he finished 12th.

The only incident of the race occurred on lap four, when Enzo Richer spun twice and dropped to the back of the order. He finished finished over three quarters of a minute behind Masson.
