Alex Dunne picked up double pole position in a shortened British Formula 4 qualifying session at Brands Hatch.
The session ended early after red flags were brought out for an off at Paddock Hill Bend with just under three minutes left on the clock.
Though a number of drivers had been finding improvements at the tail end of the session, none had been able to get close to the benchmark set by Dunne.
The Hitech GP driver had topped the times early on with a 44.503s lap around the Indy circuit. He was able to improve on that throughout the second half of the session, lowering the fastest time to just 44.220s by the time the red flag fell.
Aiden Neate was the driver to get closest, 0.229s behind the early championship leader. He starts second for the first race of the weekend but his second fastest lap time was only enough to put him sixth for race three.
Ollie Gray, who set the pace in Friday practice, will start the final race of the weekend from the front row of the grid, behind Dunne.
Georgi Dimitrov improved late in the second to go third quickest ahead of Ugo Ugochukwu and Joseph Loake. Gray lines up sixth based on his fastest lap.
Eduardo Coseteng was one of the last drivers to improve before the red flag, jumping up to seventh ahead of Daniel Guinchard and Louis Sharp, the second and third quickest rookies respectively. Michael Shin completed the top 10 and will start race two from reversed-grid pole.
