Anthoine Hubert bounced back from a difficult Saturday at Silverstone to score his first Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 pole position on Sunday morning.

The Frenchman, who had started the first and second races of the weekend from 18th and 20th, topped the times in the second group with a best lap of 1m56.361s.

That bettered the first-group benchmark of race two winner Kevin Jorg by four tenths.

Second to Hubert in the latter group, 0.273 seconds was Ben Barnicoat, who will hope for better from third place after being used as a launchpad in both of Saturday’s races.

Ukyo Sasahara was third in the group while points leader Louis Deletraz was fourth quickest, meaning he’ll start behind his main title rivals once again in seventh.

Alongside Barnicoat on the front row will be fellow Briton Jake Hughes, who missed out on topping the opening group by 0.73 seconds.

Race one winner Jack Aitken had to settle for third in group – and a place on row three – ahead of Thiago Vivacqua and Simon Gachet, who will share row five with Darius Oskoui.
