American race driver Michael Lewis will join the newly-formed European F3 team Romeo Ferraris for the first round of the 2013 season at Monza, ItaliaRacing reports.
Lewis, 22, has raced in cars in 2009, making an international debut in Formula BMW Americas that year in taking fourth place at the end of the season. The next year saw Lewis move on to Formula BMW Europe, where he continued his cooperation with EuroInternational to take 14th place in the standings.
In 2011, Lewis joined Prema in Italian F3, and narrowly missed out on the title against Sergio Campana, managing to beat his FDA-supported teammate, Raffaele Marciello. The next year saw the two of them move on to the F3 Euro Series with Prema, where Lewis scored a win at Valencia and five additional podiums to finsih eighth in the standings.
Lewis will also reportedly test with Romeo Ferraris on 9 March in Barcelona, with Italian F3 champion Riccardo Agostini running in the car on the previous day and the already-confirmed Michela Cerruti participating in both days of the test.
