The Mercedes Formula 1 team has signed Formula 4 race winner Paul Aron to its junior programme.

Aron ? younger brother of 2018 Pau Grand Prix winner Ralf ? is currently competing in the Italian and ADAC Formula 4 championships with Prema Powerteam.

The 15-year-old is the fifth member of Mercedes? current junior team, joining former F1 driver Esteban Ocon, Williams? George Russell and karters Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Alex Powell.

Aron made the step up from karts at the start of the season after winning the European junior karting championship in 2018, and picked up his first car racing victory in the ADAC championship at the Red Bull Ring last month.

Aron is currently fifth in the German series and ninth in the Italian championship, which has its third round at the Hungaroring this weekend.

Prema also runs Ferrari Driver Academy member Gianluca Petecof in both championships.
