Latvian karting star Tomass Stolcermanis will drive for Prema in his first full single-seater campaign across Italian Formula 4 and Euro 4.

Stolcermanis made his F4 debut with Prema in a round of the South East Asia series at Sepang last November and is also due to contest the final two rounds of the United Arab Emirates championship with the team.

His karting performances have previously caught the eye of the Ferrari Driver Academy which invited him to take part in scouting camps in both 2022 and 2023, although he did not proceed to final evaluations.

Last year he came fourth in the European championship for OK karts and third in the KZ2 shifter kart equivalent.

“What can be better than starting my single-seater career with a high-performance team such as Prema?” Stolcermanis said. “I’m out of words to describe how grateful I am for this opportunity! I already made my F4 debut with Prema and I’m very happy with the team. I can’t wait to have more and begin our 2024 journey together!

“I’m excited to start my rookie season. It will be very difficult to fight with the best drivers in the world, but I’m sure that the team will give me their full power and we’ll have a good growth. I’ll keep doing each turn and each step my best!”

Stolcermanis is the sixth signing for a strong Prema line-up across Italian F4 and Euro 4, which also includes Mercedes junior Alex Powell, Alpine protege and fellow rookie Kean Nakamura Berta, as well as Freddie Slater, Dion Gowda and Rashid Al Dhaheri.

“Tomass has a remarkable talent and left a strong impression in his first outings with our team,” said Prema founder Angelo Rosin. “We have been keeping an eye on him and we are happy to finally announce him for the 2024 season. It is set to be a challenging one, with so many high-profile competitors moving up full-time from karting with some single-seater experience as well, but we are fully committed to helping him to make the most out of every opportunity.”
