British Formula 4 race-winner Josh Irfan will make the step up to GB3 this year with JHR Developments.
Irfan, who turns 16 later this month, spent his first year of car racing in F4. He finished 12th in the British F4 standings with Rodin Carlin, taking a maiden win on Silverstone’s full Grand Prix layout and adding a further triumph in the final round at Brands Hatch.
He also competed in three GB4 rounds with Elite Motorsport, scoring a best result of third at Oulton Park.
Prior to that Irfan spent several years in karting, finishing third in the WSK Champions Cup on OK karts in 2022 as well as 23rd in the Champions of the Future Winter Series, 33rd in the WSK Euro Series, 34th in the WSK Super Master Series and 50th in the CIK-FIA European championship.
“I am super excited for the year ahead, joining the GB3 championship with JHR Developments,” said Irfan. “The series uses a fantastic car and I feel like I have managed to adapt to it quickly in testing. JHR are a top team and I have gelled well with everyone I’ve worked with so far.
“No doubt it’s going to be a very strong grid this year, but I feel I am in the best possible place to help me fight for podiums and hopefully be in the mix for the championship come the end of the year.”
He is JHR’s second signing for the upcoming GB3 season, joining fellow British F4 graduate Patrick Heuzenroeder.
“We’re delighted to welcome Josh to the team this season,” said JHR’s team principal Steven Hunter. “He got up to speed quickly when he started testing with us and is working hard now to be ready for when the season begins. We’ll be putting in the effort too, helping him grow and develop throughout the season so he has the best chance of success possible.”
