Toby Sowery scored his first BRDC British Formula 3 win of 2017 in the opening?race of round four at Silverstone, claiming pole before?pulling away from series leader Enaam Ahmed.

Sowery, who had not finished on the podium since the first?race of the season, set the pace in testing on Friday and beat Ahmed to pole in qualifying by 0.13 seconds.

The Lanan Racing man then kept the lead off the start and opened up a 5.2-second advantage over Ahmed during the race.

Callan O’Keeffe came from sixth on the grid to fourth on the first lap, getting ahead of Cameron Das and Ben Hingeley on the first lap.

Das slipped back behind Hingeley’s Fortec team-mates Manuel Maldonado and Nicolai Kjaergaard early on, but passed them both to claim sixth, with?Kjaergaard also passing?Maldonado.

Jamie Chadwick took ninth and Omar Ismail was 10th.
