Alexander Rossi will remain on the GP2 grid for the Hockenheim round this weekend having secured a seat with Campos in place of Kimiya Sato.
The Spanish squad’s announcement of their deal with Rossi comes just hours after he announced his split from the Caterham fold.
Sato has opted to miss the Hockenheim races in order to contest the clashing Auto GP round at Spielberg this weekend. He leads that series by 36 points having taken four wins from eight starts for Euronvoa, and despite skipping the round at Monza. The Japanese driver has yet to score any points in his rookie GP2 season.
Rossi, who sits 16th in the GP2 standings after a tough start to the season, joins?Arthur Pic at Campos. He has been replaced in the Caterham GP2 team by Tom Dillmann.
?I’m very much looking forward to joining the Campos GP2 team this weekend in Germany,” said Rossi. “I had a chance to work with the team’s Technical Director Philippe Gautheron during the latter part of the 2013 season, including my win in Abu Dhabi. I feel we have a very good opportunity for a strong race weekend in Hockenheim.
Team boss Adrian Campos said: “We are very pleased to welcome a driver of Alexander’s speed and experience into our GP2 team and we’re looking forward to a good weekend in Hockenheim. It’s a great opportunity for both us and Alexander and we’re confident that he will settle into the car very quickly and we will work together to get the absolute maximum out of the weekend.”
