Robertson wins again in final race to steal runner-up spot

Charlie Robertson added his second BRDC F4 win of the Donington weekend to claim runner-up spot in the championship in the last race of the season.

Starting from pole position, Robertson was 1.3 seconds ahead after the first lap and extended his gap from there, finishing 6.5 seconds clear of a race-long scrap for second between Jake Dalton and Matt Mason.

Mason had got a better start than front-row man Dalton to move into second on the opening lap, only for Dalton to claim the place back on the following lap. Mason, driving for Dalton’s old MGR team, closed back up on the early season leader towards the end and made a move at the final corner of the penultimate lap. Dalton didn’t give up however and snatched the place back on the last lap.

Inaugural series champion Jake Hughes went from 11th on the grid to sixth on the opening lap and then picked off Max Cornelius and James Greenway on subsequent laps to finish fourth.

Raoul Hyman made a similar recovery from 12th on the grid to finish fifth. Greenway completed a strong end to his campaign with sixth ahead of Matthew Graham, Matt Bell and Struan Moore.

Seb Morriswas hit around on the first lap by?Jack Barlow, dropping him to the rear of the pack, but he fought back to claim tenth and cling onto third in the standings over Graham. Barlow suffered his first retirement of the season to end a miserable weekend in which he fell from second to sixth in the points.
