Roberto Faria to race in Asian F3 before BRDC British F3 campaign

by Ida Wood

Roberto Faria has been named in an expanded Asian Formula 3 line-up for the debuting Motorscape team, which is racing with the support of Dragon Racing and Hitech Technologies.

The three companies were supposed to team up to race in Formula 4 United Arab Emirates this year, with Emirati karting team Motorscape making its first single-seater venture.

That programme fell by the wayside, but freed up Dragon to be more involved in Asian F3 – which is racing exclusively in the UAE this year – and work with racing team Hitech GP’s sister company to help Motorscape now run multiple cars there.

“I am happy to announce that I will be joining Motorscape for the 2021 Asia F3 championship,” said Faria.

“It will be a great experience to race in a high-level championship.”

The 16-year-old Brazilian has previously raced in British F4 and his main focus this year will be a full campaign in BRDC British F3 with Fortec Motorsports, after debuting and taking a podium in the series with the team last year.

His Asian F3 team-mate will be Nicola Marinangeli, who already has experience of the Tatuus T-318 car used in Asia after racing in the Formula Renault Eurocup and Formula Regional European Championship last year.

Motorscape now plans to run four cars in Asian F3, with the season beginning on January 29/30 at the Dubai Autodrome circuit the team is based at.

The grid for the five-round series has now grown to 19 cars, with further drivers announcements set to come from Absolute Racing and Hitech GP.
