Just over a tenth of a second covered Prema’s lead three drivers at the top of the times in Formula Regional European Championship free practice at Mugello.
Oliver Rasmussen was fastest in both sessions, with his team-mates initially off the pace in the morning. They made significant improvements in FP2 to pretty much match the Dane, who ended up 0.056 seconds ahead of title rival Arthur Leclerc.
Championship leader Gianluca Petecof completed the top three, 0.119s behind, while Prema’s fourth car driven by Jamie Chadwick was 1.524s off the pace in ninth place.
Another to make significant gains in the second session was Van Amersfoort Racing’s Pierre-Louis Chovet, who ended up in a clear fourth place.
Series returnee Juri Vips edged his KIC Motorsport team-mate Patrik Pasma to fifth place, three quarters of a second off Prema’s pace, and Konsta Lappalainen was nearly two tenths further back in seventh.
After making a delayed testing debut at the circuit last week, the Cram Motorsport-run Maestro Motorsport team was once again absent from the on-track action.
