Oliver Rasmussen lowered the pace on the second day of the in-season Formula Regional European Championship test at Mugello, edging team-mate Jack Doohan.
Red Bull junior Doohan raced in FIA Formula 3 Championship this year but failed to score points with HWA Racelab, and is testing with Prema in FREC in place of series leader Gianluca Petecof.
Doohan topped both of Wednesday’s morning sessions, the first of which was some way off the expected pace due to poor track conditions, then had his benchmark time beaten by Rasmussen in the final session of the day. The Australian also improved though, and ended up 0.166s off Rasmussen.
Prema only had three cars out, as Arthur Leclerc joined fellow Ferrari junior Petecof in not participating.
Jamie Chadwick was 0.780s off Rasmussen in the remaining Prema car, separated from her team-mates by session three pacesetter Pierre-Louis Chovet (Van Amersfoort Racing) to the margin of just 0.034s.
Patrik Pasma was the top KIC Motorsort car in fifth place, and the last driver within a second of Rasmussen, with his team-mate Konsta Lappalainen joining the test after missing Tuesday’s running.
After making an overdue series ‘debut’ on Tuesday with Filip Kaminiarz, Maestro Motorsport was again absent. The Cram Motorsport-team had intended to race in FREC this year but has missed the first three rounds and all official tests prior to this week.
