Ralph Boschung has vacated his Campos Racing Formula 2 seat before the final round of the season in Abu Dhabi after parting company with the team.

The 20-year-old Swiss driver stepped up from GP3 at the start of this year to contest his rookie season in the series formerly known as GP2.

He scored eighth-place finishes in the two Baku races and followed that with seventh in the Red Bull Ring feature race, but has not scored points since.

Boschung and Campos have now agreed to part company before the final round of the season in Abu Dhabi later this month, opening up a vacancy in one of the Spanish squad’s cars.

“My time with Campos Racing has helped me develop a lot as a driver, and also as a person,” said Boschung.

“It was my debut season in the ultra-competitive Formula 2 Championship, so I was expecting a strong challenge.

“Still, I?ve had some great moments and would like to thank Adrian Campos and his team for their efforts this season. I wish them the best of luck.”

Campos added: “Ralph?delivered strong performances considering it was his maiden season in Formula 2. I’m looking forward to working with him in the future, as I?m sure he has a brilliant motorsport career ahead of him.”

Boschung was joined in the Campos line-up at the last round at Jerez by team protege Alex Palou in a deal that was already due to extend to Abu Dhabi.
