Podcast: Which F2 talents will race in F1 in 2021? feat. Jack Benyon

by Craig Woollard
The Formula Scout team is are joined by The Race’s Jack Benyon in the latest podcast for paddock insight on this year’s Formula 2 title contenders, and what their futures with Formula 1 could be in 2021

Ferrari juniors Mick Schumacher, Callum Ilott and Robert Shwartzman, as well as the Red Bull and Honda-backed Yuki Tsunoda, have all been linked heavily to Formula 1 seats for next year – but what is it about these drivers that makes them deserving of a promotion to the pinnacle of single-seaters?

Jack Benyon, who was in the paddock covering Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 for Autosport in 2019, brings his knowledge, opinions, insight and experience onto the podcast for the first time alongside the FS podcast stalwarts to explain just why.

Schumacher and Ilott are making their grand prix weekend debuts with Alfa Romeo Racing and Haas respectively in this weekend’s Eifel Grand Prix, while Shwartzman will have his first free practice session in F1 with Alfa at the season-ending Abu Dhabi GP after the F2 title battle will have concluded. Following the announcement that Honda is to pull out of F1 next year, how that effects Tsunoda’s chances of earning a F1 race seat is also a big topic of discussion.

Elsewhere, two dominant champions were crowned in the USA at Homestead-Miami Speedway, and all of the racing around (a very wet) Europe is covered, while Japanese Formula 4 got underway at Fuji Speedway.

Also, keep an eye out on Formula Scout’s social platforms for a second podcast this week.
