19-year-old Vicky Piria will switch to European F3 Open this year, partnering Mario Marasca at BVM. Piria will be entering the series in a main class Dallara F312 after scoring her maiden podium in F3 Open in the Winter Series.
The Italian racer made her single-seater debut in 2009, contesting a part-time campaign in Formula 2000 Light. In 2010, she moved on to Formula Abarth where she didn’t score points in her debut year. She finished 18th in the series in 2011, after switching to Prema Powerteam.
In 2012, Piria made her GP3 debut, contesting a full campaign with Trident. With a best finish of 12th, she was 26th in the standings at the end of the year.
For BVM, this will be their debut season in F3 Open, after the team was left out of the Formula Renault 3.5 roster ahead of 2013.
