Spanish karting gradaute Alex Palou was fastest in the first qualifying session of the 2014 Euroformula Open season at the Nurburgring.

Campos Racing’s 17-year-old youngster went fastest in the middle of the session and kept his lead by improving his time on several occasions.

The top three of the qualifying was completed by two Thai racers – 2013 runner-up Sandy Stuvik and Team West-Tec rookie, Tanart Sathientirakul, followed by two other West-Tec drivers, Briton Cameron Twynham and German Nicolas Pohler.

Artur Janosz and Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 graduate Yu Kanamaru went sixth and seventh fastest respectively, with Wei Fung Thong and Russian duo Dzhon Simonyan and Konstantin Tereshchenko rounding out the top ten.
