Will Palmer was quickest as the second Formula Renault Eurocup pre-season test got underway at Paul Ricard.
The R-ace GP driver led team-mate Max Defourny by 0.411 seconds at the end of a dry afternoon session.
That followed a morning session on a drying track, with Sacha Fenestraz fastest but more than three seconds down on Palmer?s later time.
Robert Shwartzman made it a top-three lock-out for R-ace GP, with AVF driver Henrique Chaves best of the rest in fourth for AVF.
Richard Verschoor was the quickest rookie in fifth in his Red Bull-liveried MP Motorsport car, in front of Alexander Vartanyan, Fenestraz and the Renault junior duo of Max Fewtrell and Jarno Opmeer.
Gabriel Aubry ? who set the pace at Magny-Cours last week ? completed the top 10, having originally topped the morning running ahead of Fenestraz before being found to have run underweight.
