PaddockScout’s Team of the Year 2013
Prema Powerteam
European F3 has seen a lot of changes in 2013, but there was no changing the fact that Prema’s still the team to beat in that series. The Italian powerhouse squad led Raffaele Marciello to the title and easily picked up the teams’ honours, locking out the podium two times throughout the season.
Making their full-time debut in Formula Renault Alps, Prema completely steamrolled that series, winning every single race of the season. In the standings, their cars lined up in 1-2-3, with car debutant Antonio Fuoco leading Luca Ghiotto and Bruno Bonifacio.
Prema also didn’t get overshadowed in the very competitive Eurocup Formula Renault and, despite running only two drivers full-time, finished seventh in the teams’ championship. Luca Ghiotto starred there, picking up the teams’ sole victory (also winning the non-championship Pau Grand Prix), while Bonifacio’s efforts were rewarded with a podium appearance.
No other team in junior single-seaters produce this kind of consistency and class in every series they enter. Marciello’s title, Fuoco’s title, 14 wins out of 14 in Alps and Ghiotto’s superb maiden win in the Eurocup make Prema our team of the year in 2013.
