New FREC entrant RPM makes Pietro Delli Guanti its first driver signing

by Peter Allen

The new Race Performance Motorsport team has named Pietro Delli Guanti as the first driver for its entry into the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

RPM has taken over the entry of DR Formula and is headed by former USF2000 driver Keith Donegan together with team manager Enrico Carraro and technical director Niki Rocca, formerly of RP Motorsport.

Delli Guanti brings a reputation for underdog performances with smaller Italian-based teams. He finished 18th in the 2021 FREC standings as the lead driver for Monolite Racing, and previously won an Italian Formula 4 race at Monza in 2020 with BVM Racing.

“I am delighted and excited to start this new adventure with RPM,” Delli Guanti said. “I want to thank the whole team and Keith Donegan in particular for giving me this opportunity.

“I am sure that this team has great potential, and I will have to try to make the most of it. We haven’t had a chance to get out on the track yet, but I am confident in the skills of all the team members. I am sure that, through passion and hard work, we will be able to bring home some excellent results together.”

Donegan added: “We are very happy to have Pietro on board. Last year he had some great performances and his ambitions perfectly align with our goals. I believe that we have a good package that will enable Pietro to achieve good results this season. We are all looking forward to start of the season and taking on this new challenge.”
