Monaco Formula Renault 3.5 winner Nico Muller looks set to be on the pace again this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, beating the three championship favourites to top the second practice session.

With the circuit now dry after the earlier wet running, championship leader Kevin Magnussen led much of the session until Muller bettered his time by 0.03 seconds with three minutes left.

?The weather is always unpredictable at Spa,” said Draco driver Muller. “We drove in all conditions and we tried out the new tyres. We?ve still got some adjustments to make but it?s been a good day for us. We?re confident about tomorrow, though the weather is sure to play a big part.”

Magnussen, who claimed two poles and a win at Spa last year, said: “I?m happy with the way testing went. The car seems to be running well, and with a few adjustments we should be able to get in the points tomorrow. Spa was a good meeting for me last year, but to be honest that counts for nothing today.”

Antonio Felix da Costa took third place with a late improvement of his own, ahead of practice pacesetter and local star Stoffel Vandoorne. Will Stevens was fifth, ahead of Marco Sorensen, Oliver Webb and Lucas Foresti.
