Mucke promote Nissany to European F3 squad

by Valentin Khorounzhiy

Israeli 18-year-old racer Roy Nissany will join Mucke Motorsport’s FIA F3 European Championship squad in 2013, the team announced today. Son of former Jordan and Minardi tester Chanoch, Nissany will partner German F3 graduate Mitchell Gilbert in the team, with the third seat still unoccupied.

Nissany’s single-seater record includes two years in ADAC Formel Masters with Mucke. In 2011, he brought the team two podium finishes and was 11th in the standings. A year later, Nissany would achieve his first win in the series, placing ninth at the end of the season.

Regarding his promotion, Nissany said: “I am proud to be part of Mucke Motorsport, particularly as it is the squad that has been accompanying me throughout my car-racing career. We had an efficient winter test and I?m ready for the new challenge, the FIA F3 European Championship”.

Team principal Peter Mucke added: “Roy has been a member of our young-driver education programme for three years now, and showed that he is ready and capable for higher duties in motor racing. Certainly, Roy will need time to get used to the Formula 3 European Championship like every other rookie does. But, I think, it won?t take too long for him to get used to it. He can rely on the solid basis of our driver training in ADAC Formula Masters and he can surely make it to the top in Formula 3 as well. And this series, which is even more important due to being a European championship, definitely opens doors for making his way to higher classes of professional motor racing. Our whole team is looking forward to the further teamwork with Roy Nissany.”

Mucke participated in the 2012 season of the F3 Euro Series (rebranded this year as the “FIA F3 European Championship”) and finished second in the teams’ standings with a lineup of Pascal Wehrlein and Felix Rosenqvist. The two shared five wins in total, Wehrlein finishing second in the standings and Rosenqvist taking fourth.
