Matthieu Vaxiviere takes pole for Formula V8 3.5 race one at Spa

Matthieu Vaxiviere?took pole for the first of the Formula V8 3.5 races at Spa-Francorchamps – his first pole of the season with the new SMP Racing outfit.

The Frenchman – who was not one of the four drivers to have won one of the first four races of 2016 – set a time of 1m58.226s, beating compatriot?Aurelien Panis by 0.143 seconds.

Egor Orudzhev?-?wanting to score big having mustered just two points so far – took third behind his Arden team-mate Panis and ahead of Friday pacesetter?Rene Binder?of the Charouz-run Lotus team.

The championship’s top two of Tom Dillmann and?Louis Deletraz will share row three of the grid.

Yu Kanamaru,?Roy Nissany,?Johnny Cecotto and?Alfonso Celis completed the top 10.
