Victor Martins returned to form with pole position for the second Formula Renault Eurocup race of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix weekend at Imola.

Martins was running at the sharp end of the field throughout qualifying and lowered the benchmark to 1m40.008s by the chequered flag.

The lap was enough to put him on pole by more than a tenth of a second, but championship rival Caio Collet will line up alongside him on the front row of the grid.

Collet, who briefly topped the times earlier in the session, ended the morning 0.150s slower than Martins.

Hadrien David set the pace early in the session, but dropped back down the order as others found improvements. He jumped back up to fourth late on, behind team-mate Franco Colapinto.

David Vidales took fifth ahead of the Arden trio of Ugo de Wilde, Alex Quinn and Reshad de Gerus.

After his strong performance on Saturday, Lorenzo Colombo could only manage 10th fastest, behind Petr Ptacek. His morning wasn’t helped when a moment over the kerbs briefly sent the Bhaitech driver airborne, but he managed to land on all four wheels.
