BRDC British Formula 3 race-winner Lucas Petersson has become the second driver to sign up for the 2020 Toyota Racing Series season with MTEC Motorsport.
The 18-year-old Swede raced for Carlin in British F3 this year, winning once at Snetterton and finishing 13th in the standings.
He previously raced in Formula 4 United Arab Emirates for two seasons, coming fourth in 2017-18, and cameoed in French F4 last year.
?What a great way it?s going to be to start a new year!” Petersson said of his TRS drive. ?I?m really happy to be heading to New Zealand for the 2020 Toyota Racing Series and joining MTEC Motorsport.
“The new partnership they have entered into with R-ace GP is very exciting and I hope will give us a competitive edge going into the season. Like all series I have competed in, there are a lot of things which I?m going to have to get on top of, such as new circuits and a new car but I can?t wait to get going and give it my best effort.?
For the 2020 season, in which TRS is adopting a new turbocharged Tatuus FT-60 Regional F3 car, MTEC has formed a partnership with Formula Renault Eurocup team R-ace GP.
“Having Lucas on board for our 2020 campaign is exciting for MTEC,” said team principal Bruin Beasley.
“We have worked hard to put a strong programme together and Lucas’s ability and dedication to the task is just another positive part of it. We look forward to working with Lucas and his team achieve podiums come January.”
