Dino Beganovic has been announced as replacing Juan Manuel Correa in DAMS’ Formula 2 line-up for the final two rounds of the 2024 season.

The 20-year-old Swede came sixth in this year’s FIA Formula 3 Championship with Prema, taking two wins and two third places.

That matched his position in 2023, when he made the feature race podium four times as a rookie with Prema.

DAMS has not provided a reason why the 2022 Formula Regional Europe champion is replacing Correa, who is currently 17th in the standings with one podium.

“I can’t wait to make my F2 debut with DAMS, who has so much history as well as tremendous drive to achieve great results,” said Beganovic.

“This feels like the natural next step in my career, and I’m ready for the challenge in an extremely competitive championship. My aim for these two races is to learn as much as possible and to be scoring points in my first F2 action in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.”

Correa first raced in F2 back in 2019, getting two podiums from his first five outings in the championship but having his season curtailed by the injuries he picked up in a crash at Spa-Francorchamps that also claimed the life of Anthoine Hubert.

After a year out of action, Correa stepped down to FIA F3 for two years and took one podium before return to F2 at the 2022 season finale. Having come 13th in 2019, Correa’s championship position lowered to 19th on his full-time return in 2023 with a best finish of fourth.

The 25-year-old also drove for Prema in LMP2 prototype sportscars through 2022 & ’23, winning a European Le Mans Series race.

“We’re excited to take on a talent like Dino for the remainder of the season,” said DAMS’ owner Charles Pic.

“It’s a step up from F3 and a very competitive championship, but we’re confident that with the help of the team Dino can be competitive in these final two rounds. He has an excellent racing CV, and we believe he has what it takes to fight for strong points. I would also like to thank JM for his efforts this season, it was a pleasure to work with him and we wish him all the best for the future.”
