The second race of the ongoing Formula 3 Brazil Open event at Interlagos produced a somewhat unexpected result, as Roberto La Rocca took an easy win as race one winner and polesitter Felipe Guimaraes suffered an electrical problem on lap 13 and was forced to pit in for a lengthy period of time, eventually crossing the finish line five laps down on the winner.
30 seconds behind La Rocca, Raphael Raucci made up for his earlier DNF by successfully defending second place from “Class B” driver Gustavo Lima. Dmitry Suranovich was the last person on the lead lap, as Eduardo Banzoli retired on lap nine.
La Rocca’s victory means that he will be starting race three from pole with Guimaraes alongside him, despite the race two incident. Lima and Suranovich will share the second row thanks to their consistent finishes, while Raucci will start ahead of Banzoli on row three.
