Red Bull junior Daniil Kvyat has converted his fifth pole position in the European F3 series into his first victory, taking the checkered flag in race one at Zandvoort.

Despite two safety car periods that prevented him from building up a gap to the rest of the field, Kvyat controlled the race, finishing two seconds clear of nearest rival Felix Rosenqvist.

Since the Russian is registered as a guest, Rosenqvist will be picking up the 25pts, as he finished second after overtaking Alex Lynn with an exquisite pass around the outside into turn one.

The Briton himself completed the podium, while his compatriot Jordan King held championship leader Raffaele Marciello back to take fourth. Another Carlin driver, Harry Tincknell, was sixth, while Lucas Auer fought his way up to seventh after a number of overtakes.

Nicholas Latifi and Tom Blomqvist were eighth and ninth respectively.? Sven Muller finished his first race at Van Amersfoort in tenth, while his teammate Dennis van de Laar picked up the final point in 11th.

The two safety car periods were brought out due to Lucas Wolf‘s car breaking down on the formation lap and Felix Serralles losing the car into the barrier shortly after the first restart.
