17-year-old German Freddy Killensberger will step up to the ATS Formel 3 Cup with the GU-Racing team.

The youngster will continue his association with the German outfit after racing with them in Formula LO in 2012, taking six podiums along the way to second in the championship.

He steps up with a very clear aim to take the Trophy Class. ?Winning the Trophy title will be extremely hard because the drivers and teams competing in the German Formula 3 are always very good. Considering the strong competition it will be very challenging,? explained Killensberger.

Team boss G?nter Unterreitmeier is happy to have the youngster on board for 2013: ?We are looking forward to continue last year’s successful collaboration with Freddy in 2013. Freddy advanced well in our team last year. The rookie title and the second place in the overall standings of the Swiss Formula Junior Masters are perfect examples.?

GU-Racing expects to run three cars this season in the Trophy Class, with another driver to join the team shortly.
