Luke Hilton was fastest for the second day running as GB4’s Silverstone test drew to a close.
The Douglas Motorsport driver lowered the pace by 0.3 seconds on Tuesday to finish 0.022s clear of Elite Motorsport’s Alex Kattoulas, with Arden’s Leon Wilson 0.033s further adrift in third.
Wilson initially led the opening session before Hilton posted a 2m01.280s just before a red flag period, with nobody able to beat that effort following the resumption. Wilson ended the session 0.162s behind Hilton, and Kattouas was a further 0.4s adrift in third. Fortec’s Luca Magnussen, Graham Brunton Racing’s Callum Baxter and Kattoulas’s team-mate Isaac Phelps were also within a second of the pace.
Kattoulas set the fastest time of the test so far just past the halfway stage of session two, and he then improved on his next lap by almost 0.4s to finish quickest with a 2m00.772s. Wilson edged Hilton to third in the final four minutes, but Hilton responded by moving up two places to second ahead of Phelps.
Hilton and Kattoulas exchanged top spot in the final session, with the latter lowering the testing pace to a 2m00.615s with 15 minutes remaining before Hilton went even quicker with a 2m00.564s lap which was good enough to remain ahead until the session’s conclusion.
Wilson and Bansal both set personal bests to finish third and fourth in the combined classification, the latter 0.6s shy of the pace. Phelps was just 0.03s behind Bansal in fifth, despite not improving on his session two time. Jack Taylor pipped his Fortec Motorsports team-mate Luca Magnussen to sixth, and KMR Sport’s Megan Bruce was just 0.013s further behind, all three posting their best laps in the final session.
Also improving in session three, Graham Brunton Racing’s Callum Baxter finished 0.023s behind Bruce in ninth and Fortec’s Thomas Ingram-Hill was 1s off the pace in 10th.
