Dutch karter Kas Haverkort moves up to Spanish F4 with MP Motorsport

by Peter Allen

Dutch kart ace Kas Haverkort will step up to single-seaters this year with MP Motorsport in Spanish Formula 4.

Haverkort has been a leading contender on the international karting scene for several years, having finished third in the 2016 CIK-FIA Academy Trophy.

In 2017 he won the German junior championship title, and in 2018 came second to Lorenzo Travisanutto in the WSK Final Cup after stepping up to senior level.

Last year he repeated his fourth place in the German championship from 2018, placed sixth in the WSK Champions Cup and was 11th in the world championship.

?I am extremely happy with this opportunity and looking forward to it,” said Haverkort, who also tested F4 machinery with Van Amersfoort Racing at the end of 2019.

“The tests at the end of last year went super well. I am going to do my very best and although it is of course difficult to say where I am exactly, a top three place is definitely my goal.”

MP Motorsport won back-to-back Spanish F4 titles with Richard Verschoor, Christian Lundgaard and Amaury Cordeel before Glenn van Berlo finished third in 2019 as Franco Colapinto won the title for Drivex.

?At MP Motorsport we are very happy that Kas is going to drive with us,” said team boss Sander Dorsman.

“During an earlier test with us he was immediately fast. Before the season starts, we will complete an extensive test program so that he is well prepared for the first race.

“Although it will only be his first season in car racing, the goal is to compete immediately for the title.?
