Australian Formula 4 driver Jackson Walls will join Hitech GP for the remainder of the Asian Formula 3 season.

Walls – who lies 10th in the Australian F4 standings after three races – will make his F3 debut for the Silverstone-based team at Suzuka on June 21-23.

The 16-year-old started his single-seater career last year in Australian F4 debut in 2018, and finished sixth in the standings with three podiums.

In addition to his Australian F4 exploits, Walls has also competed in the Toyota Racing series this year, securing six top 10 results and finishing 12th overall in the points despite missing the season opening round.

?Formula 4 was a great place to start my car racing career in 2018, but after experiencing a faster car with real aero during the TRS earlier this year, I was looking for my next step,” said Walls.

“I’m really looking forward to joining the frontrunning Hitech team in Asian F3 at Suzuka next month.”

Walls will be joining title rivals Ukyo Sasahara and Jack Doohan at the team, which is pursuing a second straight year of double title success after dominating the inaugural season last season. It’s won each of the first six races, and both of the team’s drivers have double the points of anybody else.

Hitech’s Asian F3 team manager Phil Blow commented: “We are delighted to have Jackson with us for the final three rounds of the Asian F3 Championship. His proven experience in single seaters will be a welcome addition to the team.

“After a great start to the season, we are determined to capitalise on this in Suzuka and Shanghai, and hopefully bring the trophy home again.”
